Dear IPC-5 competitor, Thank you very much for your registration. We are glad about the high number of participating teams and planners, and we hope it will be an exciting and useful event for all of us. Overall, there are about 20 planning systems registered, and a good number of them support (at least some of) the new features of PDDL3.0. Here are some preliminary instructions to create your account on the competition machine. Remote connections will be by SSH. For internal security reasons, I have to ask you to use the following procedure. 1) Please generate a "private ssh key" and a "public ssh key" from your computer using ssh-keygen -b 1024 -t rsa You will be asked where the private key is to be saved (press enter to accept the default position) and the "passphrase" to encrypt it. PLEASE ENCRYPT the private key using a NON-EMPTY and NON-TRIVIAL passphrase. Some guidelines for picking passphrases: * Should be at least 8-10 characters * Should include digits and punctuation marks * Should not be the name of any entity, person, place, ... * Should not be anything anyone could guess from hearing you talk If you want to use a Windows PC, you can try to use "putty". "puttygen" should generate the key files. Please have a look at http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/0.58/puttydoc.txt 2) The public key will be saved in the default file ".ssh/id_rsa.pub". Please send this file (and NOT the private key) by email to Ivan Serina (serina@ing.unibs.it) who is a member of the IPC5 Consulting Committee and is helping to set up the competition machine. Please send copy of this correspondence to me as well. 3) As soon as your key is installed on the competition machine, we will send you the username of your account. In order to connect to the IPC5 server you will have to type ssh [username]@olimpia.ing.unibs.it and you will be asked the passphrase to decrypt the private key. 4) If you want to connect to the competition machine from a machine different from the one used to generate the ssh keys, it should be sufficient to copy the PRIVATE KEY file to the other machine. Please protect this file so that nobody else can ready or copy it. 5) You should not give the private key file to anyone else. If someone else in your team wants to connect to the competition machine, she/he should follow the same procedure and send to Ivan Serina (serina@ing.unibs.it): (a) her/his public key file (b) name of the contact person in the team (c) name of the planner she/he is working on In case of any problem, please let us know. Thanks.
